Whose Jesus will people find at Journey?

in

As I understand it, Journey’s mission is to reach unchurched people, to create an inviting and welcoming environment where they can learn about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and to ‘journey’ together with us as we
draw closer to Him in our life walk.

I love that. However, in our desire to avoid making people uncomfortable, I believe we milk-toast a lot of issues in hopes these sinners (thats ALL of us) will stick around long enough to know Jesus.

More Jesus & Spirituality

in

Shel proposed the topic and Vanessa, Julia, Christine, Olivia, Kristin, Carol, Ted & Doug joined in to find out how we can increase the effectiveness of the Journey by incorporating more Jesus, sprituality and a worship atmosphere at the Journey on Sunday that carries through to the small groups & every event we do.

Points Raised:
Everyone needs to be fed, isn't a seeker is seeking the truth?
We miss communion
We would like more scripture
At Deeper we all enter ready to worship (more hands reached to God etc.)

Suggested ways to accomplish it:

Blind Musician from Willow Creek - YouTube

in

Hi Everyone:
If you were as touched by the story at Willow Creek of Patrick Hughes as I was - the blind and wheelchair musician, you'll like this ESPN story on YouTube. It is basically the same video we saw. Well worth watching and sharing with others. Some may need kleenex near.

Teach/Lead/Guide/Encourage Spiritual Growth

in

Let me just say it was GREAT to have a group of people show up to this group last night. I was so encouraged! Lots of information to share and I hope it is stated in a way that gives background and makes sense….

The mission statement of Journey Growth Academy (JGA) states that is committed to helping people develop into fully devoted followers of Christ. The goal of this ministry is to assist people to better understand their faith, learn more about the bible and discover their areas of service through compelling and relevant Bible study.

On-Demand Community Impact

in

Journey’s Community Impact days are great outreaches to the needs of people but when crises and emergencies affect someone, waiting for the next CID just won’t work. On-Demand Community Impact would be an always-available pool of people and money to meet the unexpected needs of people.

A Visualization/Demonstration of Real Life Events...(A.K.A. Drama Ministry)

in

Tonight we were given an opportunity to express our passions to other Leaders of the Journey. I was the first to volunteer, because I knew that if I waited any longer, my heartbeats would grow heavier and harder, which would ultimately distract me from what I had to say. My vision is clear, and it has been for over a year now. We, the Journey, have the potential to start a team that will encourage those who have a gift of dramatics and arts, to create new levels of open engagement.

Making the Message Accessible Outside Church (podcast et al.)

in

The purpose of this is to provide the message of Sunday mornings to the Journey people who missed the Worship Experience and to those that are not currently attending the church. Our brainstorming included the following:

- Main messages are most important and they should be distributed in podcast form
- The option to play directly via a link (such as one provided by a weekly e-mail update) would also be nice
- Videos would be helpful (but not as required as audio). Perhaps small slips (such as skits or whatnot, could appear in a separate video podcast)
