outreach

Anybody interested in wood? During the Unconference, we had a lot of people express interest in working with wood (as well as metal, electroncis & automation). It seems that there are alot of people ranging from “I want to try it” to I love it but don’t have the place or equipment etc. This forum / unconference topic is dedicated to getting those people together to have some fun, build some stuff and hopefully impact the community with outreach.

Some of the ideas presented:

1. California Santa Project (toys for the homeless at Christmas, see www.californiasanta.com).

We talked about working with the middle school and senior high adult and teen leaders so that they are prepared to introduce the teens to a variety of outreach activities. These activities could include working with Heifer International, Habitat for Humanity, local homeless shelters for families, The One Foundation to wipe out poverty, mission trips, or other ideas the teens feel empassioned about.
