Ideas for being a safe place for the community
Posted June 16th, 2008 by Epic-Group inWe talked this past Sunday about being a saferous church. Here are a few of the posted ideas that centered around being a safe place for the community.
- When you have new people sitting beside [you] that you have not met, make them feel welcome.
- Invite the homeless over for dinner.
- [Focus community impact days on] a ministry
- Go to local homeless camps, get in the trenches, and work with the homeless until the camps are empty.
Do you like any of these? Are any of these safe or are they dangerous?

Combined Service (Unconference Topic-2H)
Posted October 11th, 2007 by darby inWhen first sitting down with our group at Sunday’s Unconference to talk about why we feel strongly about having One Combined Service on Sundays, we did so with heavy hearts.
This topic has been brought up many times over the years and Jeff has openly opposed the idea. It was also made clear that this is still the case.
Singles Ministry
Singles Ministry as discussed in Un-Conference on October 7, 2007:
Single Men & Women get together to support & encourage one another while
having fun :o)
Ideas:
Games night “Bunco”, Movie night, Hiking etc
Go together to attend other churches with active Singles Ministry like:
FCC-Family Community Church
Menlo Park Prespterian (s)
Meet or attend event once a month
Plan is to meet together and discuss, get to know one another
Shauna will send out a events happening at other Single Groups
Websites etc.
Please post any comments or ideas on how we can connect more people
Non-internet tools
Jeff stated that we are NOT becoming an internet church. If that’s true, then what do we do all week?
How do the people who are less internet savvy [i.e. dependent] engage and dialogue to the same degree as others who are on-line?
What ways can we go beyond the internet?
