Personalized Email Subscription Updates

I’ve got a new feature for everyone!

As the content on the site increases it will become increasingly harder to keep up-to-date with every conversation, I’m already having trouble… So to help keep the signal (stuff you are interested in) to noise (stuff you don’t care about) ratio balanced in everyones favor I have a new way of being notified of fresh content via email. As it stands now if you turn on the email notification you get an email when anything is updated. The new system will allow you to better configure the email notifications you get to what you are interested in. The two features I am really excited about are:

• subscribe to receive updates of individual posts that interest you (get an email when there are new comments).
• autosubscribe to any post that you create or comment on (get an email when someone comments on your post).

The only catch is

You are going to have set it up. I’ll leave the old system on for a week or so to let people switch over. First, head over to your “My Account” and click on the “My notification settings” section and disable the old email notifications by selecting Disabled for the Master Switch Notify status and save the settings with the button at the bottom. Then read the Subscription Settings help page for a walk-through of the new features.
