Making the Message Accessible Outside Church (podcast et al.)
The purpose of this is to provide the message of Sunday mornings to the Journey people who missed the Worship Experience and to those that are not currently attending the church. Our brainstorming included the following:
- Main messages are most important and they should be distributed in podcast form
- The option to play directly via a link (such as one provided by a weekly e-mail update) would also be nice
- Videos would be helpful (but not as required as audio). Perhaps small slips (such as skits or whatnot, could appear in a separate video podcast)
- Compilation of the past series would be very helpful on CD (in MP3 form) or DVD.
- The ability to purchase a CD/DVD of the series or special talk to keep or give away to a friend
- Should be available to all
- Videos of special events such as carnival or Community Impact Days should be made available in the podcast
- having transcripts of the message outlines would be a bonus
- One idea was to have Jeff include a message preview (1 minute) in the weekly e-mail to fire people up about Sunday
Side note - we were looking at everything EXCEPT music and video clips (which violates the copyright)
Love it
Definitely, yes to all.
Some way to watch LIVE for those not at church that day, or those never able. Like Gotomeeting.com or whatever.
I bet you anything when we get into Open Space day, people will be coming up with all kinds of cool ideas of similar nature - and then, many of those people will then VOLUNTEER to lead them!
Zimbabwe
Any way to get what we are doing each week to Limpopo in some format that they would appreciate receiving?
Obviously, podcasting wont help. I'm not sure what would...CD player and message cds? (probably doesn't help that in English tho). I don't have any good ideas on this one, anyone else?
Do we do both?
Video cast /pod casting are obviously where we want to go.
I'm wondering if we NEED to still have physical CDS or DVDs to keep the non-tech people included?
Next question... do any of you have the capacity to "try it?" I have no clue how much work actually doing it would be... but if we could make one video cast happen...and one pod cast happen...I think that would "help" get started. As everything... this requires a team of committed, consistent people. I know Vanessa has experimented with capturing audio on Sundays.
this is so important as we expand!
who will do it?
Hosting Content
Video and audio can quickly consume our website bandwidth and storage limits.
So I suggest we use someone else's bandwidth and storage, namely Google Video. GV has no limits on file size. Then we just post the video player on the site and bada boom bada bing... instant internet church! Ha! Kidding.
