Wood working, for fun and for outreach...
Anybody interested in wood? During the Unconference, we had a lot of people express interest in working with wood (as well as metal, electroncis & automation). It seems that there are alot of people ranging from “I want to try it” to I love it but don’t have the place or equipment etc. This forum / unconference topic is dedicated to getting those people together to have some fun, build some stuff and hopefully impact the community with outreach.
Some of the ideas presented:
- California Santa Project (toys for the homeless at Christmas, see www.californiasanta.com).
- Building personal projects for the fun of it.
- Doing community outreach via wood: helping do repairs, build custom projects for the less-fortunate.
- Delving into other areas - metals, welding etc.
- Looking into possibly creating effects equipment for guitars etc.
The focus of this group seems to lean towards fun and outreach. This group could be a huge impact to the Community Impact Team becoming “God’s Hands” to those in need.
Do you have a schedule for when you work on the Santa Project?

Dean Floyd
Hey Dean
We are working the next 4 Saturdays for sure, 9AM to 5PM. My web site is being updated but there are directions etc. on the site. I would love to see you and anyone else you can drag along. (www.californiasanta.com)
Thanks!
