Motorcycling?

in

Anyone like riding motorcycles in the mountains in the bay area? If so, and you're a safe rider, I'd like to find a couple riding partners. I have a 2005 Yamaha FZ6 600cc naked bike and in the past year I've put 5,000 miles on it. When I'm in the mountains or on expressways, I ride with full gear.

I like spirited riding but I'm very focused on riding safely. If you like riding with people who do wheelies, pass on double-yellows, split lanes just to get ahead of other cars and take uncalculated risks, then I'm not a riding partner you would enjoy. But if you like runs in the mountains, stopping occasionally to see some scenery and some convo, while behaving yourself on the road, then we might just have fun.

Ohhhh....

I’ve had a few motorcycles and though I don’t own one any more, I got in the habit of renting a Harley about once a year and doing an all day mountain ride (and aside from occasionally pushing the speed limit a bit, I’m also a pretty safe/tame rider).

Feel free to ping me (with some advance notice) when you’re thinking about a nice day trip.

Yum

Kevin,

We can schedule a day trip any time you like. Where do you rent your bikes from? Maybe Doug Van Wyk, also a cruiser rider, could go with us.

Any other sport bikers on the site?

I believe in God because every once in a while, I hear a voice that says, “You’re my favorite.”

Dual Sport Bike Rider

I have a Honda XR400 that I dual sported (street legal). Its not a freeway bike, but it loves mountain roads, and when available and the moment hits me, an occasional side trail. However, I’d be willing to keep it on the black top to ride with you guys. It would be an interesting blend of bikes.

Add Deano

hey … I know Dean Benkowski has a bike and would love to ride… probably need to call him.
Devon Carlock too.

Maybe you all could bring your Bikes and put them on display outside The Joureny on Sunday Sept. 23rd as part of our Road Trip series.

:)

Display Bikes

OK if you want to do that I can bring mine.

don't forget...

jt gutierrez has a bike & rides frequently, too.

Hot wheels

I used to have a cool yellow HOT WHEELS. Does that count? Can I be included in this group activity. I promise not to speed.

Motorcycle Group Un-Conference

This past Sunday (10/7/07) a few of us met during the un-conference to discuss what a motorcycle group would be like at the Journey. Our thoughts were to combine our passion for motorcycles with the concept of a Life Transformation Group (LTG) and with outreach. So how do we see this happening? We had envisioned going on rides to destinations with fellow Journey members and with those not yet connected with the Journey or Jesus. The destination could be a park, a restaurant, or a coffee house at which we would have short, small group discussions on relevant spiritual topics before heading back home.
This will be a time for fun and fellowship all while enjoying the weather, the scenery, and the company of those during our journeys. Below are some thoughts we had for the group to spark discussion and interest.
• Long and short rides with single or multiple stops
• Single riders or couples welcome (does anyone have a sidecar?)
• LTG formatted spiritual discussions (Prepared and structured)
• Welcome anyone who would like to ride with us
• Where can we ride to? (Please post suggestions on routes and destinations)
• Rider safety discussions and tips
• Maintenance weekends (get a group together to swap tips and do maintenance on your bike)

Of course I want to ride! I was the one who brought it up at the Unconference! I’ve got a black Yamaha Virago 535 that is perfect for cruising! I too want safety to be first priority! How do we get this thing started? Shall we try for Sunday afternoon tomorrow? That’s when I usually ride through the lovely countryside of Morgan Hill. Lisa will probably be my motorcycle babe on the back, so if there are any other ladies out there who want to ride along, you won’t be alone. Let’s not make it too far on our first trip, since my passenger seat is not as comfy as my own. Where shall we meet?

DougEFresh: Did you mean a different day, Jeff? Sept. 23rd is over.

Scheduling Rides

Hi everyone,

It would be nice if we can get together and discuss some routes and dates for rides.
When can we get together?

How about Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21?

We can discuss where we would like to ride from/to on line under this post, and if the weather holds up, all take a ride together.
YBFAM,
Dean Floyd
