Journey ... in 3D.
Lookin for a little feedback on this here. Had the idear of making this at the service this morning after that spiffy video montage about worship. Got the juices flowin.
If anyone’s in the field and is curious… the text was made in NURBS in Rhino and imported into Maya for rendering. Lit with an HDR image made in Photoshop and a “softbox” for fill. Few adjustments in post. 4 passes including occlusion and alphas for each element.
Different background? Color change?
Anything helps :)

Re: Journey ... in 3D.
SWEEET! i had no idea you knew how to do this kind of stuff! amazing!
can you dot the j with a ball like in the logo?
super cool!
Re: Journey ... in 3D.
awesome. so awesome!
and because nitpicking about technicalities is so much fun;
the “o” is not filled in… i think it should be topped off with some sort of liquid.
Re: Journey ... in 3D.
steve! shut up!
thats pimp.
Re: Journey ... in 3D.
Wow…that is cool looking! Way to go!
Re: Journey ... in 3D.
Ok… How do I get that on the offering boxes?
Re: Journey ... in 3D.
hey another 3d guy. so what else do you do, and who are you?
cool stuff
We can also get you the logo font (in Mac format), if you’d like to have it to work with…
Great stuff. Would be nice to have video bumpers to add to projects, etc.

Re: Journey ... in 3D.
Wow… Thanks all around everyone!
I dotted the “j” for ness, filled the “o” for jeff, although liquids are a little tricky so I opted for glass. There’s that little black line there I may get rid of… right now it’s just camera angle.
Adjusted the shape and had some problems with the material on the logo so it may look a little different than before. Added some depth of field… think thats about it.
Trey - how do you want it?
Chris - I’ve been in photography for about 10 or so years, besides that little bit of everything really. Vid, graphic design, etc. I’m the tall, buzz cut kid you might see above the crowd.
As for the font, it certainly wouldn’t hurt. Is it some offshoot of arial?
font
yo stretch.
the font is Gotham. send me your email address and i’ll forward it to you if you’re on a mac.
chris - can we animate this? hahaha - so fun!
Re: Journey ... in 3D.
Gotham eh? Pretty close… I’m not on a mac (unfortunately). Is it a truetype or .. what is it.. open-something font? I’m sure i can find a converter.
We could animate this. How so?
Re: Journey ... in 3D.
Modern macs use pretty much the same fonts as modern PCs, so there really shouldn’t be any reason it can’t be used.
Final Setup
I think this is lookin like the final setup, besides the font which is an easy swap.
