Holy Spirit brainstorming session regarding prayer

Arlet, Ginny, and I got together and had a Holy Spirit led brainstorming session about how to improve the prayer covering for our church.

Here are some ideas that we feel the Lord gave to us:

Arlet:

Burnt offerings
Annointing oil
Email reminder prayer
Fresh
Small gatherings
Dinners
World prayer notes program

Prayer retreat leader
Pray experience on Sunday
Sing prayer only at communion

Relationships
Connect
honest
Candles tents communion clusters
Bare bones
Calling list

Ginny:

Timed session like intermission or transition 1-2 min 45 sec
prayer walk all over campus
Corporate prayer
Wailing wall
Mix it up (2 min prayer)
Silent prayer
Small group, on reg basis

30 days of prayer
safe place in Jesus
we become a safe place
holiness to wholeness
put in request => take out request

Jim:

Holy Spirit Hit squad
Designated prayer people in back (Sun AM)
Online form for prayer requests
Separate Prayer ministry area (close prox to main mtg)
HS Hit squad to serious cases on prayer cards
Pick a verse and pray it – scriptural prayer
Monthly prayer ministry mtg in home

These are just 1-3 word phrases. Some of these will not make sense or seem odd. However, there is further explanations. For example—-from my “phrases”—burnt offerings does not mean we would do it like Bible times—sorry no lambs or rams or goats offered. “Bare bones” does not mean having bones laying around (sorry no fossils) but means..no “program”, no candles, no videos, no band (manybe just guitar)—-basically simple.

Just wanted to add that ….feel free to ask questions about specific things.

This is a real important balance to a faith community that’s pushing for even more human “interactivity” (JGordon word). I think this push helps balance out the democracy - allows us to make sure we’re “vertically interactive” (JGordon word number two).

I like the idea of some people (and areas) that I can always enter into prayer
