Local Neighborhood needs your support

in

Silver Leaf Neighborhood has been participating in a Listening project in conjunction with the City of San jose. The project was used to pinpoint areas of need and development in the neighborhood. Once the results were tabulated we then take those results to City Council. Our neighborhood is currently looking for individuals interested in supporting us to present the findings to our District Council Member Forrest Williams. Its one hour on Saturday March 1 at 10:30 at the new Edenvale Library, registration starts at 10. This is your chance to help a community in a big way by just coming out and showing support. We are trying to pack the community room to capacity at 150+ people. If your interested please contact kelly byrne at kabob at slna.org

Easy

Its the easiest one hour community Impact day you will participate in :D We are really trying to develop this Pilot program into a workable program so communities learn to advocate for the safety and well being of their neighborhoods.

Wait, I don’t understand.

Wait, I don’t understand. What do you need the people for? Showing support for what exactly? What is a listening project? Will the city listen less if there are not as many people in the room? What community is this for? Shouldn’t support be from people who live in the community, not just any random people? I don’t want to get accused of not helping the community but I really don’t understand what the draw for this would be.

Mornings would be great if they came later in the day

hmm...

The listening project was just what i explained, its a project to find out what the needs of a community are. People that are participating aren’t just residents but are supporting partners groups such as churches and businesses. Honestly its a bunch of beaurocratic nonsense the city makes us go through in order to get trees planted in a median to improve the neighborhoood and it isn’t ugly. The draw would be just taking an hour to make the city happy so a neighborhood of 1400 homes will be happier. Its about people helping people. No one is forcing anyone to do it. If it doesn’t seem like its a draw for you then dont go.

I didn’t say anyone was

I didn’t say anyone was forcing anyone to go. I said I didn’t understand. You’re saying you want people to show up to support trees in a median. That’s all you had to say. It sounds like you’re frustrated with the process you have to go through, and I can understand that. I just think clarifying your request would help people make decisions about whether or not they want to participate. No one wants to commit to showing up for something if they don’t know what it is. Just like no one wants to sign a petition, even if its a great petition, if they don’t know what they’re signing.

Didn’t mean to put you on the defensive.
