Did you Feel that?

in

We had a 5.6 earthquake tonight at 8pm. Is everyone doing ok? i live over near 85 and 17 and felt it pretty good. It defenitally brought back memories of ‘89. We were having our LTG at my house and the two of us that have grown up in California were up and in the doorway with the front door open and ready to grab the kids while the guy from Indiana was still sitting on the couch wondering what we were doing… :D

did anyone have anything break?

Re: Did you Feel that?

Since we are in a Mobile Home you really feel it, about 20 things fell, but looks like nothing broke. PTL

Re: Did you Feel that?

The last time I didn’t show up to church I had a call from GOD. This time he said,”Frank get your
_ _ _ back to church”. Well alrighty then. See you guys on Sunday before he sends another message.

Let the good times roll…

I was wondering who’s fault the earthquake was!

rock and roll!

That earthquake was awesome! I know my friends in SF felt it very well which is pretty amazing. It’s a nice reminder to stay prepared for natural disasters like that. Nothing like an earthquake to liven up a normally boring Tuesday evening haha.

Re: Did you Feel that?

I was in the 6.6 in Los Angeles in 94 which gave me an earthquake phobia. This wasn’t too bad but def raised the blood pressure to new heights…

Re: Did you Feel that?

well I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. I unfortumately was downtown on the third floor and man ws the building rockin after. We were all evacuated and lucky for me class ended early. I out of the 7 students who were there tonight was in the doorway. It totally brought flash backs of the 89 earthquake. But I totally was at peace with it. I prayed that God woukd protect me and my family. Afterwards I tried to call and of course my cell was only good for a paper weight at that time. So some of my class mates and I prayed outside that our families were ok and that we would all get home safely. Talk about an awesome connection with fellow students at SJSU.

Re: Did you Feel that?

We were having our small group as well. It was interesting to be with someone who hadn’t been through an earthquake yet. I wasn’t sure what to do…just kind of waited until that big jolt, and jumped up then. I immediately thought of my kids…I didn’t like that feeling of being separated from them. Makes me want to do alot of things….tell my family I love them all the time, get our disaster kits together for our home, make sure we have a real non-portable telephone at home!

Re: Did you Feel that?

im adding to that starting earthquake/fire drills with Landon and finally getting my Ham Radio License. :D

Elias is right; its a good reminder that we should always be prepared.

always being the paranoid one...

i looked over at our trailer when matt and i left last night around 7 and said, “i’m worried about webster [our cat]. what if there’s an earthquake & the trailer rolls down the hill with him in it?” of course, he thought i was being crazy, but when the earthquake hit that was the first thing that popped up in my mind! luckily everything was fine when we got home.

Hah! I was just reading this

Hah!

I was just reading this thread and guess what happened? Another aftershock. No magnitude from USGS yet.

The Quake of 07

DougEFresh: I was at the drug store out by Evergreen College in my truck when it hit. As I was backing up, I thought I ran over a little kid or something - it really scared me to think that I killed a toddler. I tried to drive forward but the truck just kept rocking and rolling and I couldn’t move! It was one of the weirdest experiences I ever had. Wow - that was my first experience with a quake that was really noticeable since I moved here 15 years ago! No damage to our home, which is pretty darn close to Alum Rock. We live by Hellyer and 101.

Yeah it was an interesting one...

I was at home with my 2 roomies Ashley and Sarah. All of a sudden things started falling off of a shelf & I ran for the door…The ‘89 earthquake was so much worse…I remember it perfectly…I was 9 years old at Cambrian Bowl, on a league, when all of a sudden it hit pretty hard…TV’s were falling & crashing..bowling balls were rolling out of the shelves and my mom and I were huddled under a teeny table they had in our lane…waiting for it to end…as scary as it was, it was kinda exciting too! I remember there being an aftershock later on that day and my dad was working on the roof…I was so scared because he was holding on to the chimney so he wouldn’t fall!!! That was a CRAZY quake!!
