Maybe we find some way to tell others how to do what Dave did, would be great to have more video posts! I'm not sure where on the site to put it but somewhere. Doesn't sound hard from what he did...

Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

I know that sharing video links is a awesome thing and im working to make that easier for everyone to do without having to worry about the HTML. We’ll see how that goes but until then you can enable Filtered HTML under the Input Format section and if you want to try it. Just paste in the embed code from YouTube or Google Video or whatever.

Dave thanks for sharing your story. I now realize that I shouldn't have listened to that right before bed. My heart is beating fast. I don't watch horror films, but your story was enough to get my mind racing and well, lets just hope I have sweet dreams tonight. It is too bad you don't know the ending of the story, I would have liked to sleep peacefully. But anyway, just a question. maybe you or someone knows the answer. How do Demons choose who they take over?

I don't know if we, as humans, will ever know why demons choose who they choose. However, I may be wrong and one of the smarter people on this site will reply to this post too. But I really feel that it has to do with that diagram that Jeff made on Sunday about the spirit, soul, body. Satan is constantly looking for weakness and a stronghold and when he finds one--he grabs on and works as hard as he can to take over that little section of life and then works to add more sections of life. Now, I am not saying that we all have the potential of being demon possessed because we have weaknesses....I struggle with my strongholds every stinkin' day. But I am saying that Satan isn't stupid...he knows who he can get more control over and who he can do damage with. But no matter how smart Satan is, God is smarter, more powerful, more everything....

There’s not a lot of clear info on why people are possessed in the bible. All we see is that it does happen. Both people and animals can be possessed.

“Footholds” is a broad category of reasons. What could some of those be?

• Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit
• Occultic activity (individual or familial)

But there are also categories of demonic presence:

• Demonic attacks - an acute episode of an attack on an individual
• Demonic oppression - a sustained level of attack on an individual
• Demonic possession - demonic control over an individual

I am fairly confident that it is impossible for a disciple to be possessed, primarily because when a person confesses faith in Jesus, they are sealed in the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13 and Eph 4:30). However, we can be attacked and oppressed.

I would say that oppression probably has a correlation to footholds that both disciples and undisciples have. And of course, we all get attacked by demons at various times.

Now, in my mind, the question is, “What constitutes a “foothold?” To that, I offer a simple “I dont know.” Is it something that we sin in over and over? Is it something we refuse to give to God or always take back? Jesus said we are to forgive 70 times 7, so do demons get footholds for recurring sins or only those sins we refuse to confess?

I think that strong demons can only come out by a lot of prayer and fasting as Jesus said in Mark 9:29.

First of all, Dave Reynolds is my new favorite author. I agree with you almost always but even when I don’t I love the way you write. Keep writing, I’m reading.

Second of all, I think demons are not as smart as we give them credit for, they are soldiers in a war carrying out their marching orders (think CS Lewis and Screwtape Letters). I don’t know why particular people have been selected to be possessed and I’m no expert on healing from that situation. I just believe it exists, I’ve met some of them.

I have chosen to walk into the line of fire a few times by allowing my mind and heart to be confused. As a disciple I don’t think possession is possible, but as my good friend says, “birds will always fly around your head but don’t let them build a nest in your hair.” I’ve been picking twigs and poop outta my curly hair for years and I’ve decided it’s best to prevent rather than clean up the mess.
